The bulk of the Allis Collection relates to his work as a teacher, writer, and an editor. One noteworthy feature of the collection is the amount of correspondence. Allis was not only a prolific letter-writer; he was also an early adopter of the typewriter and kept carbon copies of many of the letters he sent.
